Riding a motorcycle at night can be particularly dangerous, and many riders avoid the risk as much as possible. At night visibility is reduced and the chance for mishaps with other drivers is enhanced. That’s why precautions must be taken to give riders the optimum level of safety.

Before riding at night, it’s important to consider your headlights. For riding around populated areas, low beam lights and fog lights are best so as not to blind other drivers. However, you may want to consider upgrading your current lights if they’re dull or an off color.

Another way to greatly enhance visibility is by applying reflective tape. Keep in mind that tape which reflects amber is supposed to be used for the front, red for the back and white tape for the front. You can even get reflective decals of flames and other shapes for your bike and helmet.

In addition to highlighting your bike, it’s also a good idea to wear brighter clothing at night instead of the classic black leather jackets. Avoiding the edge of the road and staying towards the middle of lanes will also keep you safer and more noticed. With these few precautions you can make sure night riding is fun as well as safe.

A dedicated motorcycle aficionado takes satisfaction in epitomizing his or her favorite brand, whether on or off the bike. Its cool to sport your individual motorcycle style and colors by fitting yourself in the chicest motorcycle clothing, and revealing your distinct brand logos and markings. There are great motorcycle apparel websites, and brick ‘n’ mortar stores that offer a huge assortment of casual and stylish motorcycle clothing to dress you in the industry’s up-to-date fashions. Fashionable styles such as jeans, T-shirts, hats, jackets, pants, and a wide-range of various other motorcycle attire are available. Motorcycle styled accessories are also in vogue such as jewelry, watches, belts, shoes, bags and sunglasses.

Whenever you are searching for your perfect motorcycle apparel, for instance on the Internet, and find the site you feel has the type of motorcycle clothing you’re interested in, then scale down your search by style, brand, or color. This method is best if you know exactly what you want, or at least have a good idea. In addition, there are websites that offer motorcycle pages with videos and product reviews. We like to hold on to those things that express our personal style, and motorcycle apparel is no different.

When you want to make a turn while driving your car, letting others know is quite simple. You just flick your turning signal either up or down, depending on whether you would like to go left or right. Letting people know about your upcoming turn when riding a motorcycle may not be quite as easy, but it’s definitely not difficult. Some motorcycles may have the turning signal on their bikes, for those that don’t however, the driver is required to use their arm as a the indicator. For both turns, the left arm is used. When getting ready to turn left, the motorcycle driver just sticks his left arm straight out, perpendicular to his body. When preparing to make a right turn, the left arm is bent in a right angle at the elbow, so the hand and lower portion of the arm stick up toward the sky.

It is very important that these signals are made and used correctly. If a driver behind a motorcycle doesn’t know the motorcyclist is executing a turn, they could hit them from behind, causing injuries and vehicle damage. When riding a motorcycle always remember and use these important hand signals to prevent problems.

Motorcycles are fun to ride, and cost less to buy and run than a car. Whether you’re looking for your first bike or you’re a motorcycle veteran, you want to make sure you’re getting the best price on a new or used bike.

Second-hand bikes are cheaper than new ones and buying from a private seller is usually cheaper than buying from a dealer. Websites like Craigslist, the local newspaper and magazines like Cycle Trader will have lists of bikes for sale. Research any models you find available online. If you’re patient and know what you’re looking for you can get a great bike for a very cheap price.

A used motorcycle dealership will have people on hand to help you choose the best bike and have a selection, so you can try out several different models. Some dealers have incentives on used motorcycles, although they’re more likely to offer a deal on a new bike. Most dealerships also sell other essential riding items like helmets and protective clothing.

Getting the lowest price on new motorcycles is much the same as getting the best deal on a new car. Use the power of the internet to research the models before you going to the dealership and shop around between dealerships, not only looking for the lowest price, but also for the best financing, maintenance and other incentives.

Finding a cheap motorcycle is not difficult if you’re patient and think through the steps. Looking through classified ads will get you a good price, but you have to do your homework, otherwise you could end up spending extra money on repairs and maintenance. Buying from a dealer is a little more expensive, but sometimes you can offset the cost by taking advantage of the dealers financing incentives. You’ll also have a selection of bikes you can try, and expert advice from dealership staff.

Have you ever wondered how to protect yourself from windburn while riding? Windburn is often considered to be a fact of life for those who rule the roads. However, by taking some very easy precautions, you can protect yourself from the harsh side effects associated with windburn. First we must look at the cause of windburn, and that is simply caused by the removal of oils from the skin. The oils are there to protect our skin from harsh conditions such as the wind, and the sun. Once stripped, your skin is left to the mercy of the elements, wind and sun to wreak havoc on.

Using a good quality sunscreen is the first defense for the sun, but it will also help to lock in the moisture of the skin. Sunscreen should be worn on any skin surface that is not covered by your gear as your first line of defense, and the other upside is that your skin will be protected from harmful the sun. Another common suggestion, for men, is to not shave prior to riding as the act of shaving removes oils from your skin, and leaves it vulnerable. As promised, these are two very simple solutions for preventing windburn while riding.

Wearing leather is more than just a lifestyle for motorcycle riders, it’s a very important part of their safety equipment.

In the event of an accident, the only thing between a rider and the road is what they are wearing. Just as a helmet protects the head, leather outerwear protects the other parts of the body. Leather designed for motorcyclists is tougher and more durable than that used for fashion, and is usually reinforced at impact points such as the shoulder, elbow, back, and knee. Should the rider be unable to avoid a crash, wearing a leather jacket, leather pants or chaps, leather boots and even leather gloves can mean the difference between life and death, as the material will absorb the impact of contact with pavement and help to prevent road rash.

In addition to accident protection, wearing leather while riding a motorcycle protects the rider from any airborne obstacles such as road debris and bugs that often cause injury when striking the skin of an unprotected rider, and wearing leather boots protects the feet and ankles from burns of exhaust pipes.

Motorcycle riding is one of the best ways to get out and enjoy the open road, but without the protection of the proper leather, can also be one of the most dangerous.

There are many options when it comes to finding the best riding leather for men. You can, of course, head to a store that features motorcycle apparel. You will be paying for brand new leather, likely top of the line as well. Other options are swap meets or flea markets. Almost every flea market around will feature at least one booth with everything for the cyclist. You may be buying at a wholesale price, or there’s a possibility that the leather may be used. What’s better than a broken in leather, though? Keeping with the theme of used leather, there is also the option of consignment stores and pawn shops. Many of each of these stores know that quality leather is in demand and will buy from a seller in order to provide their clientele with what they want. Supply and demand at it’s best. The last option, is browsing the internet for the best price. You can find specific brands sold by many different wholesalers. If you take the time, you can find a great price for what you are looking for. The only downside is that you are not able to see your product, nor try it on. Be careful with what you purchase and pay attention to what the return policy is. Buyer beware and bikers be happy.More info here: Top 5 Designer Bags

Having a bike is a lot of work and you’ll encounter some hassles you didn’t think of before so if you haven’t bought yet, let us enlighten you
Bugs – Yes, bugs. If you didn’t know, insects, particularly spiders love to nest inside the warm innards of your bike and there’s little you can do to stop it. If you leave your helmet outside you’ll need to be prepared for bugs to get in there, too.
Weather – There are times when the weather’s great that it’s nice having a motorcycle. Other times, like when it’s raining or 30 degrees outside that it’s less fun having to ride home while wet and cold. Think about it.
Storage – Bikes are great for looking cool but they’re not so great for actually doing anything useful. If you want to get groceries or even take more than one person somewhere you’ll need another option.

So you’ve decided to buy a motorcycle? The next question is should you buy a new bike or a used one? Buying a motorcycle is not the same as buying a car or truck.

The first thing you need to understand is that motorcycles have shorter service lives. A motorcycles’ life may be as little as 40,000 miles if it’s been pushed hard and not maintained. Too many people treat them like toys. That means you could be spending a lot of time working on your used machine. The flip side is that your initial purchase price will be very low; parts are easy to come by; and there’s a lot of advice available on the Internet.

The case for a new motorcycle is much simpler. It’s new and it’s ready to go now! This is actually a much safer route if you are a relatively new rider. The last thing you need is major mechanical failure when you’re barely confident of your riding skills. New machines also come with important things like a warranty and customer service from the dealer. The dealer wants you to be happy with your purchase. Make sure you meet all the scheduled maintenance dates.
